About

Avifauna Research & Services was formed in 1992 in response to a demand for a specialist service for the design and construction of wetlands habitat as an offset for development. However, our skills are based on many years of experience (dating back to 1960) with involvement in wetlands management in the UK and France (the Camargue).

Since 1992 we have worked in Australia working with local, state and the Commonwealth Governments and industry. Our advice is provided to wetland managers in other Asia Pacific countries.

We work with a client’s engineers and technical staff or allocate these services depending on the nature of the project.

Our expertise is based on the extensive knowledge of waterbirds and their habitat requirements, especially migratory species that seem to be the main group affected by habitat loss in coastal Australia and other parts of the East Asian-Australasian Flyway. Environmental engineering must then fit round these requirements.
